The Bands That work
When placing the Flip-Lock HERBST, TP Orthodontics recommends the use of GripTite molar bands for increased strength and stability.
- Advanced design ensures superior performance.
- Available in Standard (.007") or Firm (.010") thicknesses.
- Indentations are three times deeper than photoetched bands to permit deep cement intrusion.
- Anatomical design provides consistent fit without forcing or driving.
- Available in 38 sizes, from 00 to 36.
- Corrosion-free marking system clearly indicates the Palmer Notation, band size and tooth identification.
GripTite bands from TP Orthodontics can be fitted directly to your working model while in the TP Orthodontics laboratory. This eliminates time spent crimping and adjusting as well as the need to take an additional impression after the placement of spacers.

Indentations are three times deeper than photoetched bands to permit deep cement intrusion.
GripTite is a registered trademark of TP Orthodontics, Inc. and manufactured under US patent 5,911,575+F.
The disadvantages of using crowns3
Although stainless steel crowns are a popular means of retaining the HERBST appliance, there are disadvantages to this method:
- Difficult to remove.
- Do not adapt closely to the teeth.
- Can unintentionally open the bite.
- May interfere with chewing.
- Impinge on the gingival margin.
The advantages of using bands:4
- Removal is fast, safer and more comfortable for patients.
- Easier to fit.
- Less interference with occlusion.
- Minimum of teeth involved.
- Quicker try-in and cementation.
