OPTIS Preformed Archwire
Performance you can see. Archwires you can't.
You’re looking at a remarkable new archwire — whether you can see it or not. OPTIS™ Preformed Archwires are made with a polymer resin that’s reinforced with glass fibers for a uniquely translucent appearance. In fact, they’re virtually invisible, yet their performance is equivalent to nickel titanium (NiTi).
Patients love the way they look, and you’ll appreciate how effective they are at moving teeth. OPTIS works beautifully with aesthetic bracket systems and ligatures, and they require no special tools. For a translucent archwire that delivers clinical results, it’s easy to see why OPTIS is your perfect choice.
Engineered to Move
There is a reason OPTIS Preformed Archwires are the first super-elastic translucent archwires that move teeth as effectively as NiTi. They are fabricated from high-strength composites in a patented and patent-pending process that produces superior elasticity and mechanical performance. Only OPTIS uses an advanced polymer resin reinforced with glass fibers for better strength and flexibility. The excellent surface finish and uniform reinforcement distribution of OPTIS are the keys to its success.
In addition to being translucent, OPTIS Preformed Archwires are nearly impervious to staining. Clinical results clearly demonstrate no wire discoloration — even after four weeks of exposure. Extensive testing also shows the OPTIS wire maintains its intrinsic translucent properties and stain resistance over the entire course of treatment.
OPTIS Preformed Archwires are especially compatible with InVu® Aesthetic Brackets. Together they form the complete aesthetic solution so you can provide your patients with the virtually invisible orthodontic treatment they’re looking for.
Performs like nickel titanium
OPTIS Preformed Archwires have demonstrated their equivalency to nickel titanium wires in comprehensive laboratory testing.
OPTIS also performed well in clinical assessments. Evaluators targeted patients in the alignment phase of treatment, where tooth displacement is most pronounced. Results from over 200 wire insertions definitively demonstrate that OPTIS moves teeth as effectively as non-heat activated NiTi wire, and the fracture rate compares just as favorably.
Testing also demonstrated the biocompatibility properties of OPTIS, making them ideal for sensitive patients. Throughout clinical trials, no patients showed any form of ulceration, irritation or redness.
Considerations for use
The ideal candidate for OPTIS Preformed Archwires has no extractions and no major displacements in the anterior or posterior sections of the mouth. The wires should not be bent more than 60 degrees. The use of crimpable hooks or stops is not recommended. Do not place loops or crimps in the wire. Doing so will compromise performance and may lead to premature failure. OPTIS Preformed Archwires are not recommended for cases that require such bending.
OPTIS Preformed Archwires should be protected with metal coils or sleeves when used with cases that feature gaps larger than 5mm due to extractions or missing teeth.
The use of a dull cutter may cause minute fraying at the wire’s end; in this case simply wet and smooth the end for easy insertion into the buccal tube.
Sterilization
OPTIS Preformed Archwires may be sterilized using standard cold sterilization procedure or autoclaving at a standard autoclaving temperature of 250º Fahrenheit (121º Celsius).
